  • Right dorsal colitis (RDC) is an inflammatory and ulcerative condition of the right dorsal colon in horses
  • It most commonly associated with high-dose, repeated or prolonged NSAID use
    • Can occur at labelled doses in susceptible individuals
  • Key clinical signs include soft faeces, mild colic, weight loss and peripheral oedema
  • Diagnosis is presumptive based on clinical presentation, clinicopathology results and ultrasound imaging
  • NSAIDs should be stopped immediately and supportive care is used to promote mucosal healing
