  • Mobitz type I second-degree AVB is a bradyarrhythmia characterised by progressively prolonged PR intervals followed by a dropped QRS complex
  • It is a common physiological finding in healthy, athletic dogs and horses
    • Due to a high vagal tone
  • Can be caused by underlying pathologies but this is rare
  • Typically asymptomatic and resolves with sympathetic stimulation (e.g. exercise)
  • ECG is the gold standard for diagnosis
  • No treatment is required in physiological cases but underlying causes should be addressed if the block is pathological
